So what’s it all about?
The Australian Pedal Car Grand Prix is a community event to raise funds for several local community groups in the district. The Coleraine Hospital and the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation have been major beneficiaries of our fund raising since we first raced in 2012.
It is a fun, healthy and environmentally friendly event that sends competitors racing around the streets of Coleraine in the picturesque Western District of Victoria.
Teams of four or more competitors are invited to build and race their own unique pedal car in a two-hour endurance event.
The “Hot Lap”!
In 2018 the committee decided to add an exciting new section at the very start of the race program called the “Hot Lap”. Here is the way it works: Beginning at 1 pm sharp, all participant teams are invited to nominate one driver and one pusher to complete one circuit of the track. The fastest time recorded wins the cash prize. This race will be conducted within the same categories as the main race ie; junior, senior and open, however the junior section may be run in two groups depending on the design of the cars. The cash prize will be $50 for each category. Each individual car will be sent off at 2 minute intervals within their group and there will be about 8 minutes before the next group commences their race.
Entry fees for the “Hot Lap” are included in the main race entry fee.
We thank our Major Sponsors for their generous support of this unique event.
